Lanette and Curtis' Wedding at The Jefferson in Richmond

What better way is there to spend your Valentine's Day weekend than to get married! This Valentine's day weekend, I had the joy of participating in Lanette and Curtis' lovely and intimate wedding in Richmond, Virginia. If you've never been to the Jefferson Hotel, a weekend away is a must! The beautiful Jeffersonian architecture serves as a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding, enhancing any wedding and bringing an air of elegance that few locations can. My husband, who assisted me during this wedding, remarked to me that part of the beauty of the space is the historic feel it has - no one builds spaces of this luxury and elegance anymore! Because of the rich history, this was a perfect place for Lanette and Curtis to tie the knot, since the rich history they've built together was so evident throughout the day.

Speaking of rich history, Lanette and Curtis have been together for a full ten years, and the result of this extended commitment to one another was a truly connected family wedding, built on the shared history that those in attendance had with both the bride and groom. These two families interacted with each other in such a close manner that I'm still not sure that I know who belongs to which family! You could tell throughout the preparations, ceremony, and reception how much love this family shares. The minister referred to Proverbs 4:9 in his homily: "Two are better than one." Throughout this wedding, the fact that Lanette and Curtis are better together was abundantly clear, and this has extended to their friends and family as well.

In addition to the lovely service, one of my favorite moments of the wedding was when the best man got a little choked up explaining the joys of seeing Lanette and Curtis get married and the way that this kind couple wanted to bless the people who participated in their wedding. All around, this was a fabulous wedding to participate in, and I'm so glad that Lanette and Curtis allowed me the honor of being there with them!

I hope you enjoy some of my favorite photos from the day!
